The shark's world
Fear, panic, horror, threat, etc. these are the main feelings that appear when people see sharks. Myths and beliefs that came to us from the ancient times as well as horror films formed the negative image of the shark-killer in our imagination. But sharks also didn't change through the centuries. Shark is the picture of greatness and power, wildness and rage but people either avoid or kill these monsters.
The diversity, beauty and intellect of the shark is not realised by people, because people think that sharks are the stupid killing machines that prefer human meat to everything else. And such opinion even damages good and harmless sharks such as the white shark or the Carcharodon carcharias. Of course these sharks are also predators. Moreover there are also good and peaceful sharks such as Squatine that lives at the bottom of the sea and eats crustacean. Another peaceful shark is Rhiniodon typus that is the big giant shark that eats little organisms that it manages to find in the sea water.
Nevertheless the majority of sharks is not longer than 1 meter and is afraid of people as live creatures that appear in the water. But people also consider that the attack of the shark is the worst that can happen in the sea. However some sharks also live in freshwater basins.
Some time ago investigators and researchers had the indulgent attitude to sharks because it was considered to be the primitive creature with bad eyesight but good hearing and sense of smell. But such opinion was proven to be false because sharks have perfect senses and some of them are even better than the human ones. For example, sharks have electric receptors that are able to feel the motion in the water made by the swimming or moving objects in the water. Moreover sharks are even able to determine the place of these objects.
However this is one of a few scientific investigations as sharks keep so many other interesting features and extraordinary abilities that were not investigated by scientists but are discovered day by day.
